In 2009, Fireworks recorded its Cartoon project for the Entertainment One label. Though the masters were lost and the record was never released, recorded performances from the ensemble’s Cartoon tour allowed the project to be preserved for posterity.
This live recording from Fireworks’ concert in Hightstown, New Jersey captures the ensemble in its 2009 incarnation performing live soundtracks to classic cartoons featuring Bugs Bunny, Roadrunner, and Tom & Jerry, interspersed with the music of Raymond Scott—whose high-speed, colorful jazz tunes from the 1930s served as the inspiration for many of the cartoon scores that followed.
